Raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, artist Moriano Chevalier developed a deep personal connection with minerals and gems while traveling, after being gifted a mineral specimen from the private collection of a nomadic gem hunter. This seemingly small gesture changed the entire course of Moriano’s life. Wanting to keep this special memento close, he quickly began experimenting with different ways to set stone within metal in a functional fashion in order to make the stone into a piece of jewelry he could wear as a reminder of the love in the world. Moriano quickly became addicted to the sense of peace that overcame him whilst creating, leading him to acquire his first parcel of precious metal. Initially using shiny pieces of anthracite that he would find on walks near the train tracks that run through the French Quarter in the heart of The Big Eazy, Moriano’s journey into the world of sculpture began. Today, Moriano Chevalier has sculptures in every state in the US, as well as many other countries throughout the world thanks to passionate collectors around the globe. For the past decade, Chevalier has provided extraordinary works of art with top quality, sustainably sourced materials. His creations have been featured in galleries, films, music videos and more.
